Sochaczew – a city where history, cultural heritage and dynamic development come together

Situated in central Poland on the Bzura River, just 50 kilometers from Warsaw, Sochaczew is a place where tradition meets modernity. Over eight centuries of history have left extraordinary traces here – from the ruins of the Castle of the Masovian Dukes towering over the city, to numerous monuments and sites that recall the region's rich past.

The history of the city, and in particular the course of the bloodiest campaign of 1939, is presented by the Museum of the Sochaczew Land and the Battlefield of the Bzura, located in the heart of Sochaczew at Kościuszko Square (Plac Kościuszki).

Sochaczew is also an exceptional tourist destination. The city serves as a "gateway" to the Kampinos National Park, one of the most valuable natural areas in Poland. In nearby Żelazowa Wola, Frédéric Chopin was born – the world-famous composer whose music attracts culture enthusiasts from all over the globe to the region every year.

One of the city's greatest attractions is the Narrow-Gauge Railway Museum, which boasts one of the richest collections of historic narrow-gauge rolling stock in Europe. 

Sochaczew also proudly nurtures its cultural heritage, with unique symbols related to local history and creators appearing in the urban space. One of them is the monument to Bonifacy the cat, a character from the cult animation "The Adventures of Filemon the Cat". Marek Nejman, the co-creator of this story, wrote the adventures of the charming cats right here in Sochaczew.

Today's Sochaczew is a green, family-friendly, and active city that consistently invests in infrastructure, education, culture, and sports. The planned construction of the Central Communication Port (CPK) is of particular importance for the region's development – a strategic transport hub that will connect Poland with the most important European destinations.

Sochaczew is also a city of sporting excitement. This is where the heart of Polish rugby beats – the ORLEN Orkan Sochaczew team has repeatedly proven its strength, winning medals in the Polish Championships.

Above all, the city is shaped by its residents – active, engaged, and open to cooperation. Sochaczew is a place that draws from the past while boldly looking towards the future.
